I t is with deep sadness that we announce that LaDawn Walker (56) passed away on Friday, August 19th, 2022. She passed peacefully in her home in McKinney, Texas. She had a 3-year battle with Stage IV metastatic melanoma cancer, and she fought with such strength and grace. LaDawn was born on August 12, 1966, in Denton, Texas.
LaDawn had a vivacious personality. She had a deep love for Jesus and her family. LaDawn lived an intentional and meaningful life of service to others. She took everyday moments, and she placed them as an offering before the Lord. She took the simple things in life and made them special. LaDawn had a beautiful smile and contagious laugh. She was the best listener and always welcomed others into her home with open arms, providing a place of safety, security, and comfort for them. LaDawn valued tradition and loved to host any chance she got. She loved her pets, and they loved her. LaDawn was a marketing manager for Citigroup for 18 years. She loved her job and her coworkers. She found a great sense of purpose in being a part of a team and found fulfillment in the relationships that her professional life brought to her.
LaDawn’s faith was quiet but mighty. She loved attending her church, Hope Fellowship. She spent each morning with her Bible in hand and covered her family in prayer always. LaDawn trusted in the promises that God’s word laid out for her and found great hope in Him daily. Her family finds great comfort in knowing that she is now healthy and whole in the presence of God.
LaDawn is survived by her husband John Walker, her three children and their spouses, daughter Allie Rosier, daughter Angela Mercer, son Jack Walker, son-in-law Taylor Rosier, daughter-in-law Paige Mercer, grandchildren Ella Rosier (2 years) and Mason Rosier (2 months), her mother Dola Russell, brothers Richard Russell and Scott Russell, sisters-in-law Sharon Russell and Linda Russell, along with numerous other family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Wallace Russell.
The family will receive friends for a visitation Tuesday, August 23, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options. A funeral to celebrate LaDawn’s life will be held on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options 2112 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas 75023.
