Kerry Graham Rustin, a radiant soul whose laughter lit up a room, and could be heard a mile away, passed away peacefully, surrounded by close family and friends on Thursday, November 6, 2025. Kerry fought a courageous and unwavering battle with Multiple Sclerosis for over two decades. She was a beacon of love, resilience, and joy, touching countless lives with her generous love, wisdom, humor, and boundless spirit.
Born in Junction, Texas, on August 22, 1961, Kerry grew up in Mason before heading to the University of Texas at Austin in 1979. She graduated in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in social work, a testament to her lifelong commitment to helping others. Her journey then took her to Washington D.C., where she worked for former Congressman Tom Loeffler, before returning to her home state of Texas in the late 1980’s.
In the 1990s, Kerry found her calling in recruiting and leadership development in Dallas. It was during her time at Today's Temporary that she met her beloved husband, Dameon Rustin. Together, they built a life filled with purpose, partnership, and adventure. Kerry’s career flourished at Snelling, then Achieve Global, where she became a Master Teacher. She led transformative leadership trainings in Texas and across the country and her impact was profound. She didn’t just teach; she inspired everyone she met.
In her personal life, Kerry was a marathon runner, traveler, mentor, and dear friend. She never took herself too seriously, and her unmistakable laugh was a soundtrack to the lives of those who knew her. Over the past several years, Kerry and Dameon renovated their home in Dallas and two houses in her cherished hometown of Mason, pouring their hearts into every detail. She and Dameon shared many adventures over the years with so many dear friends, creating lifelong memories filled with laughter and joy along the way.
Kerry is survived by her devoted husband, Dameon Rustin; her daughter, Colleen Rustin, son-in-law Justin Hazlett; her sons, Noah and Zachary Rustin; and her beloved grandchildren, Noah Rustin Jr. and Adali Zalopany. She was preceded in death by her loving father, Lee Graham and Linnda Graham.
There will be a funeral service to celebrate Joan’s life at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at Christ United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas.
Kerry will be laid to rest at a private graveside ceremony in her hometown of Mason, Texas at a later date, attended by close family. To honor her memory, a celebration of life will also be held in Mason for all our family and friends in the community.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Kerry Graham Rustin to 'The Lee Graham Scholarship Fund' at Mason Bank, or to the National MS Society.
Kerry’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those she taught, loved, and laughed with. She was full of a light that will never dim-it will be “KerryedOn” forever.
