Kenneth (Ken) Dykeman

Kenneth (Ken) James Dykeman was born October 17, 1938, in Pomona, California to parents Kenneth and Gertrude (Booth) Dykeman.

Though he was born in Pomona, he grew up in Melrose, Massachusetts. He served in the army in the late 1950’s and then in the 1960’s he started driving trucks for Bekins Van Lines.

Ken and Helen married and eventually bought their first house in Franklin, Massachusetts. He worked his way up into management with other moving companies and relocated his family to Minnesota and Indiana ending up finally in Plano, Texas.

He retired from A1 Freeman North American where he was a general sales manager. He was full of stories and jokes -- you could say anything, and it made him think of a story or joke.

The golf course was his second home and he and Helen enjoyed going on cruises with friends.

Ken is survived by his loving wife Helen Dykeman; children David, Kenneth, Jr. and Deana Dykeman; grandchildren Devin, Danielle, Daniel and Jacob; brother Steven Poole Brook and sister-in-law Karen Dykeman.  He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Walter Thomas Dykeman.

The family will hold a private celebration of Ken’s life.
