It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Kenneth James Allums, who left us at the age of 65. A devoted husband, father, and friend, Ken enriched our lives with his passion for technology, history, and the simple joys of life.
Ken entered this world on April 19, 1959, born to Aaron Larry Allums and Mary Francis Allums. Ken was a man who embraced the world with curiosity and enthusiasm. His love for technology and building things was matched only by his fascination with history and his voracious appetite for reading. Whether immersed in the worlds of science fiction or the annals of the past, he was always eager to uncover new insights and share them with those around him.
A true aficionado of the blues, Ken found solace and inspiration in the timeless music of artists like B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Chis Rea. These melodies accompanied his moments of relaxation as he basked in the sun, perfecting the art of relaxation as a professional sunbather.
Though he may not have been drawn to cars or sports, Ken was a lifelong gym enthusiast and a skilled boxer in his youth. His commitment to fitness was only rivaled by his unwavering dedication to his family. He was a playful spirit who fully engaged with his children, joyfully participating in everything from backyard sports to water gun battles, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.
Ken was a man of humility and self-awareness, always striving for self-improvement. He openly shared his experiences and lessons learned, guiding his loved ones with wisdom and kindness.
More than anything, Ken knew how to appreciate life's simple pleasures - often taking the form of a bowl of Blue Bell Dutch Chocolate. He did not seek out the next big thrill but instead embraced each moment with gratitude. His dedication to ensuring his family experienced the richness of life, even if he couldn't fully indulge in it himself during his youth, was a testament to his selflessness and love.
As we gather to celebrate his life, we remember Kenneth just for his achievements and passions but for his profound ability to love and nurture. His legacy will live on through the joy he brought to others and the lessons he imparted. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
Ken is survived by his son Derek Allums and his wife Léanna Allums, daughter, Gemma Reynolds and her partner Mike Thivaios.
A memorial service will be held to honor Ken's life at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Blvd., Plano, Texas 75093.
