Kelton Rus Griffin, dear husband, father, brother and friend passed peacefully surrounded by family on February 6, 2023, at the age of 57.
Kelton was born January 21, 1966, in Andrews, Texas to parents Thomas Edgar Griffin and Janet Kay Hollister Griffin.
Growing up Kelton enjoyed riding his bike, playing football, basketball; he weightlifted and ran track through-out middle school and high school. He was a talented athlete that loved to dance and sing. He was in the acapella choir in high school as a teen.
After graduating from his hometown, Andrews High School, Kelton worked as a mechanic, owned a mechanic business and worked in the West Texas oil field for Apache Oil Corporation until 1999. He was also a Commissioned Security Officer before he began his journey to achieve his lifelong goal to be a first responder as an EMT. Kelton was in the EMS field for 20 years and retired as a Critical Care Paramedic with Star of Life honors.
In the past 3 years Kelton served as an essential owner operator as a semi-truck driver in a team with his son, Korey Rus Griffin. They had many adventures traveling across the country.
Kelton was a lifelong fan of the Texas Longhorns football and the Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed Christian rock music, concerts and being a sound director at church in his 30’s. He loved being involved in church men’s groups and growing deeper in his faith by studying the Bible and listening to endless studies while driving.
Kelton delights now in God’s glory and blessings. Because of his loving heart, he has left behind a legacy and inspired us all to continue on and make our way. Kelton was an inspiration to everyone he knew and will be greatly missed. We will miss his unique sense of humor and laugh.
Kelton is survived by his dear wife Suesun Lynn Griffin; sons Korey Rus Griffin, Thomas Andrew Abney Griffin, Kaleb James Griffin; brothers Kelly Rex Griffin and his wife Christi, Kevin Ros Griffin and his wife Stephanie; nephews Dustin, Derek, Brandon and Ryan; he is survived by many loving aunts, cousins and sister-in-law Alicesun Lynn Abney. He was preceded in death by his mother, father and mother-in-law and Harold Matthew Hollister Jr.
The family will receive friends for a visitation Sunday, February 19, 2023, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options.
There will be a funeral service to celebrate Kelton’s life Monday, February 20, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options.
