Kelly Lin McCoy

It brings great sorrow to announce Kelly Lin McCoy of Richardson, Texas passed away on July 9, 2026. She was born on July 29, 1963, and hails from Macomb, Illinois.

Kelly spent her formidable years exploring various Midwestern cities before her family settled down in the farm town of Markesan, Wisconsin. Kelly was drawn to creative outlets, which allowed her to express her free spirit. Her imaginative mind coupled with her unyielding work ethic paved the way for Kelly’s career arc, where she journeyed through the worlds of newspaper printing, advertising, consulting, and graphic design.

Understanding music gives a soul to the universe, Kelly and her friends spent free time investigating the music scene of whichever city they were residing. When craving a night in, Kelly was a gracious host, curating a tasteful dinner party. Whether walking in Golden Gate Park hiking in the Camelback Mountains to playing beach volleyball in Houston, Kelly searched for ways to socially exercise wherever she was living.

Despite finding the successes of her career fulfilling, Kelly devoted herself to a more rewarding endeavor, motherhood. Above all, Kelly understood the value of a consistent, proper education; subsequently, she found stability for her family in the Atlanta suburb of Milton, Georgia, where dedicated her free time to volunteering at her children’s schools and churches.

In an homage her grandmother, Ruth, who played an instrumental role in her upbringing, Kelly uprooted her life in Georgia and relocated to Dallas, Texas, so she could be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. As a devout Catholic, Kelly found a sense of community at Christ the King, especially within the St. Vincent de Paul organization. Kelly loved to travel and frequented New England to visit her son; together they investigated new museum exhibits, visit state parks, uncover new cuisines, and of course, seek out live music.

Kelly is survived by her two children, Kenna Kosh and Bennett McCoy, two grandchildren, Ryann and Taylor Kosh, father, Warren Schmeckpeper, and two brothers, Todd and Scott Schmeckpeper. She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Schmeckpeper, and grandparents Edward and Ruth Jones.

While we will remember Kelly’s radiant smile and witty retorts, let us not forget her true legacy, a love without reservation.
