Kelly Ann Cleghorn

September 7, 1977 — July 16, 2025

Lewisville

It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved Kelly.

Kelly Ann Cleghorn, age 47, of Lewisville, Texas, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2025, after a brave and heroic battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family until her last breath.

Kelly was born on September 7, 1977, in Tyler, Texas, to Joe and Karen McMahon. She shared a close bond with her sister, Katie McMahon, and cherished the love and support of her family. The McMahon family always prioritized family above all else, and Kelly was no different, embracing the same values. Kelly cherished memories of her childhood; family boat days on Lake Texoma and ski trips to Crested Butte.

Kelly graduated from McKinney High School in 1996, where she was a proud and spirited member of the Drill Team, forming friendships and memories that continued into adulthood — including with her lifelong best friend, Nicole Marrs (Voyles). She continued her education at Texas Tech University, earning a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1999, followed by a Master of Science in Marketing in 2001. During her time at Texas Tech, she was an active and proud member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. It was also at Texas Tech where Kelly and Chris met and fell in love. They were married shortly after college in 2003.

Kelly began her career at AT&T in 2001, where she worked for 17 years in numerous leadership roles focused on marketing and advertising. She truly enjoyed her work and developed strong and lasting friendships with her colleagues. After retiring from AT&T, Kelly chose to focus on her greatest passion — her family. She dedicated herself fully to raising her children, supporting them in their many activities, and running every aspect of their household.

Kelly lived for her children: Cameron Kate Cleghorn (16) and Colin Joseph Cleghorn (12). Their development and happiness were her primary focus, and she poured her heart into every moment of motherhood with love, intention, and joy.

A passionate volunteer, Kelly was an active member of the PTA at Cameron and Colin’s schools. She chaired the Kingdom Tales program at Castle Hills Elementary School, a program where children authored and published their own books. Kelly and Cameron also volunteered together through the National Charity League, creating meaningful memories while giving back to their community.

Kelly had many hobbies and interests, but in recent years, her greatest joy came from playing tennis. She started playing at the age of 40 and quickly fell in love with the game. Kelly joined the tennis team at The Lakes at Castle Hills Country Club, she loved doing drills with her teammates, competing in matches, and earning the sweet taste of victory! As Kelly always did, she understood the bigger picture — tennis is merely a sport, and it was the friendships and camaraderie that mattered most. She loved her teammates, and they loved and supported her throughout her battle with cancer.

She also loved traveling with her girlfriends, enjoying vacations with friends and family, watching her children play sports, and participating in her long-standing book club. She was a loyal Texas Tech fan, often cheering on the Red Raiders alongside Chris. They watched all the big games together - Guns Up! She found joy in exercising, and quiet comfort in cuddling with the family dog, Chip.

Upon Kelly’s cancer diagnosis, our very dear friend Joanna Sudbeck formed “Kelly’s Royal Court”, assembling all of Kelly’s dearest friends into a movement of love and support that continued throughout her entire battle. The movement included a parade that came to Kelly, food, more food, game nights, theme nights, gifts, group dinners, and a magic show! To Joanna and the members of the court, your support was beyond anything that could ever be imagined in our time of need. You brought joy, encouragement, and support to our family. Our friends and neighbors within Castle Hills also provided tremendous blessings of support and generosity, the ultimate display of community. These are debts that can never be repaid and an act of love that will not be forgotten.

Kelly was the beloved wife of Chris Cleghorn, and the devoted mother of Cameron and Colin, who were the center of her world. Chris loved Kelly with all his heart, enjoying 22 years of happy marriage and building a wonderful life together in partnership.

She is also survived by her loving parents, Joe and Karen McMahon; her sister, Katie McMahon, and spouse Mandi Elliott; her in-laws, Bob and Bonnie Cleghorn; her sister-in-law, Amanda Fuller, and Amanda’s husband, Peter Fuller. She was a proud and loving aunt to their sons, Landon and Owen Fuller, who brought her great joy. Kelly is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service to celebrate Kelly’s life will be held on Thursday, July 24th at 1:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Methodist Church in Plano, Texas.
