Kathryn Lynn Voigt Bohnsack went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2025. She was born on May 2, 1944, in Joliet, Illinois, to Harry Herman Frederick Voigt and Beulah Charlotte Piper Voigt.
Kathryn trained to be a Registered Nurse at Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet, Illinois, and was proud of her career in pediatric nursing. Kathryn grew up on a farm in Will County, Illinois, and graduated from Peotone High School, Peotone, Illinois, in 1962. As a teenager, Kathryn worked in her mother’s restaurant and catering businesses and was an accomplished home cook and hostess. Kathryn worked hard during her life. She was an example to her young children of service to others, and they have memories of her volunteering at church, delivering Meals on Wheels, and advocating for others. She became a member of The United Methodist Church when the family moved to Plano, Texas, in 1978, and she enjoyed participating in mission projects and Stephen Ministries.
Kathryn was pre-deceased by her parents, her brother, Gerald Eugene Voigt, and her former husband, James Allan Bohnsack. She is survived by her three children, Kristina Kay Roberson (Eric), Kimberly Sue Brannon (Joe), and Douglas Voigt Bohnsack (Wendy); her sister, Janet Sue Robbins; her grandchildren, Victoria Leigh Rawson (Justin), Alicia Kimberly Patterson (Jay Michael), Luke Eric Roberson, Julia Kristine Roberson, Andrew Truett Brannon, Abigail Kristine Brannon, Zackery Voigt Bohnsack, and Troy Harris Bohnsack; her great-grandson, Charles Rowan Patterson; and beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Highland Springs Assisted Living and Memory Care for exceptional and loving care during the last five years of Kathryn’s life and Visiting Nurse Association hospice caregivers who made her final days peaceful.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Allen Family Funeral Options. There will be a reception to follow.
A private interment in Peotone, Illinois, is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to missions of your choice or to organizations meaningful to Kathryn including the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden at: https://www.dallasarboretum.org/support/ or the Visiting Nurse Association at: https://secure2.convio.net/vnaot/site/Donation2
