Katherine “Kathy Lynn” Lynnette Smith, lovingly known as “Ma” by her grandson Jordan, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2026, at the age of 57. She was born on May 8, 1968, and was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend whose kindness and warmth touched everyone who knew her.
Kathy was born to Walter “Wally” and Ginger Smith and grew up in Princeton, Texas. She later made her home in Allen before ultimately returning to Princeton to be close to her daughter, son-in-law, and beloved grandson. Her greatest accomplishment and pride in life was her daughter, Alyssa Longoria, whom she raised with deep love, faith, and unwavering support.
A woman of strong faith, Kathy loved the Lord and was actively involved at First United Methodist Church in Allen, where she found joy in volunteering and serving others. Her faith guided her life and was evident in her compassion, generosity, and selfless spirit.
Kathy dedicated many years of her career to Texas Instruments and also worked for PepsiCo. In a reflection of her caring heart, she stepped away from her career to care for her mother. Later, she cherished the opportunity to spend meaningful time helping care for her grandson Jordan and supporting her daughter Alyssa and son-in-law Bobby.
She had a deep love for animals and was a passionate supporter of the SPCA, always advocating for those who could not speak for themselves. Her home and heart were always open to animals in need.
Kathy will be remembered as fun, lighthearted, kind, loving, and selfless—someone who was always eager to help others and bring joy to those around her. Her greatest happiness came from her faith, family and her animals, and her legacy of love will live on through them.
She will be deeply missed and forever cherished; her memory will remain a guiding light of love, faith, and compassion.
Kathy is survived by her daughter Alyssa Longoria and her son-in-law Bobby Longoria; beloved grandson Jordan Longoria; siblings Wally Smith and his wife Melanie, Doyle Smith and his wife Amie, Susan Chaddick and her husband Mark, Tricia Divers, Denver Smith and his wife Gueisla; along with extended family and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter “Wally” and Ginger Smith.
