Katherine Brodesser departed this life on June 21, 2025, with her loving wife of 29 years by her side. Katherine leaves behind her wife, Martha, and many loving friends and family who were blessed to have had her in their lives.
Katherine lived her life with loving grace and strength that hid the challenges of a long courageous fight with cancer. Katherine was a Long Island girl who eventually settled in Texas, but never fully lost her NY accent, which all her Texas friends loved to hear when she let it slip. Words like sawhorse and longhorn never sounded the same after she spoke to them.
She loved everything life had to offer and could be a “glamorpuss” while going to high tea or the symphony….or she might be in a snowsuit skiing her favorite slopes in Lake Tahoe. Water skiing at Cedar Creek Lake had also been a longtime passion. It was common knowledge she would not let go of the rope and thus, one always had to ensure a full tank of gas in the boat before taking her skiing. Some of those hot Texas summer days gave way to boating in the cool of the evening on the lake with her wife and besties dancing beneath the stars to music by Pitbull, John Legend and the like. Or you might find her enjoying a quiet evening at home playing games with family or friends. Or watching her favorite shows on TV.
Thanksgiving was special to her as it was for any guest invited to the table to enjoy the cooking of her beloved Nana’s recipes in a traditional Thanksgiving meal. New Years or Christmas would often be celebrated with a large homecooked Lasagna, complete with extra gravy…. which we all learned meant pasta sauce. Many an adventure was had with her friends and family – she would pick up and go nearly anywhere on the planet at the drop of a hat.
Katherine was kind, loving, adventurous, fearless and above all – the sweetest soul to anyone who had the luck to interact with her or call her friend. Katherine enriched all our lives immensely and her loving free spirit will live on in our hearts until eternity reunites us again.
There will be a celebration of Katherine’s life at 3:00 p.m., Friday, July 11, 2025, at Allen Family Funeral Options.
