Karen Moore Schoelerman Baxter was born May 12, 1943, in Riverside, California to parents Jay Kenneth and Melba (Blood) Moore. She passed away June 12, 2022, after a lengthy illness.
Karen's father served as a career military officer in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War. He was stationed in numerous European countries and later in Japan.
Karen graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1965 with a BSEd in Education. She began her teaching career in Dallas, Texas and eventually joined the faculty of the Plano ISD. Later she left teaching and worked for an advertising agency. She was very artistic and worked in various mediums including watercolor, metal, wood and needlepoint. She was awarded several ribbons at the State Fair of Texas for her artistic works. Karen was a cat lover and always had one of two cats. She loved traveling and took numerous trips to countries in Europe.
Karen was fascinated by genealogy and did extensive research on her family of origin. She was a member of DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) where she served as Regent of the James Billingley Chapter in Dallas, Texas.
Karen is survived by her brothers Jay Kenneth Moore, Jr of West Linn, Oregon and Thomas Moore of Warrensburg, Missouri; nephew Ron Moore and niece Laura Kronenburg and numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands Duane Schoelerman and Robert Baxter
There will be a celebration of Karen's life Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options with a reception to follow.
She will be laid to rest with her husband Duane at Dallas/Ft Worth National Cemetery due to his service to our country in the U.S. Army Air Force.
