June Elena De Angelis was born in Orange, New Jersey on October 24, 1946, to parents Joseph A and June (Cerbone) De Angelis of whom were lifelong residents of the same city. She was educated in the Catholic school system form elementary school through college. She felt she was fortunate and grate to receive an excellent education in these institutions and given the opportunity, she said she would repeat her experiences.
She graduated from Caldwell College for Woman in Caldwell, New Jersey, a Dominican Catholic women’s college, (now Caldwell University) in 1968 with a B.A. in English literature, and minors in secondary education and library science. Upon graduation from college, June worked for thirteen years as an elementary school librarian in West Orange, New Jersey at Pleasant dale School (now Kelly Elementary School, renamed to honor former students and astronauts, Mark and Scott Kelly).
In 1981, June and her former husband, Andre Vanderryst, moved from New Jersey to Texas. They divorced in 1993 after 19 years of marriage but remained friends throughout their lifetime. In 2006, June petitioned the court to retur4n to her birth name and was legally granted that request.
In 1985, June earned her master’s degree in Library Science at Texas Woman’s University. After graduation, she worked for one year at the Richardson Public Library in Adult Reference and Technical Services. The remainder of her 36-year career was spent in Adult Reference service with the Plano Public Library System from which she retired in 2009. For twenty of her twenty-two years in Plano, she was a reference supervisor in Adult Services.
June was a parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Richardson, Texas.
She is survived by her brother Joseph A. De Angelis, Jr. and his wife Bette; nieces Amy De Angelis Frantz and her husband William Robert; nephew Joseph D De Angelis; great nieces Shannon Frantz and Amanda Rizzo and her husband Genesio; great nephews Will Frantz and Joseph D De Angelis. June was preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:30, Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 600 S Jupiter Rd, Richardson, Texas officiated by Rev Jason Cargo.
She will be laid to rest following the mass at the Columbarium at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
