Julie was the youngest of four children, lovingly referred to by her mom as “her gift from God.” She grew up in Fort Stockton, Texas, and graduated in 1990, as salutatorian of Fort Stockton High School. She then continued her education at Baylor University, majoring in Spanish and graduating in 1993.
After graduation, Julie met the love of her life, Bill. They married in Houston in 1996. Her first child, Kate, was born in 2001, and she had her son, Ryan, in 2006.
Julie was a lifelong educator and dedicated her life to teaching young children. She had the biggest smile on her face when she told her teaching stories and shared the successes of her students. During her career, she taught every elementary school grade except for second grade. Julie taught for 20 years at Anne Frank Elementary, joining the school when it opened in August 1997. She took a break for several years to share in the education of her children at their school, Prince of Peace Catholic School. Once her children grew older, she returned to Anne Frank Elementary and worked there until learning of her illness in November 2022. She and her colleague were lovingly referred to as the “Sunshine Girls” because they always brought light to any situation and peppered the teachers and staff with gifts.
Of all her jobs, the one she loved the most was being a wife and mother. Julie and Bill shared a deep love for one another. During their 27 years of marriage, they were always by each other’s side and loved spending time together. Her children meant everything to her. Julie could be easily convinced to spend the day grabbing coffee and shopping with her daughter or cheering on her son at the field. The family looked forward to their many adventures. Julie truly loved beaches and adored spending time floating in the water and sitting on the beach watching the waves. One of the family’s favorite places to enjoy together was the Grand Cayman Islands.
Julie touched the lives of everyone she had met through her kindness and sweet smile, whether she was their biggest cheerleader, favorite teacher, or amazing friend. She cherished the role of daughter, sister, aunt, wife, and mother. Julie was welcoming to all and filled her home with warmth and love.
Julie is survived by her loving husband Bill Woodhouse; children Kate and Ryan Woodhouse; mother Sylvia Ryan; siblings Tim Ryan and his wife Rosana, Stephen Ryan, Kathy Brooks and her husband John; mother-in-law Mary Jo Woodhouse; sister-in-law Melissa Woodhouse Martinez and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
