Judy Kay Peterson passed into the presence of her wonderful savior Jesus Christ June 26, 2025. She had fought a valiant battle against an aggressive form of cancer. She is now free of all pain and suffering.
Judy was born June 27, 1951, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was blessed to be a member of a large and loving extended family. She is survived by her brother David Reames, his wife Donna, sister Laura Cowie, nieces, nephews, and many close loving cousins. She is also survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Steven Peterson. Steven and Judy were never blessed with children, but she loved her nieces and nephew as if they were her own children.
Judy was preceded into Heaven by her father Robert Franklin Reames, her mother Mary Louise Reames and her brother Roger Lee Reames.
Although she was born in Fort Worth, Judy grew up in Dallas and graduated from H. Grady Spruce High School. She worked a number of jobs in her life, including several years at Dallas Power and Light Company, Arco Oil and Gas Company, Shahan and Son Painting Contractors, Robert P. White Custom Homes, and finally Addison Law Firm. She and Steven met at Dallas Power and Light Company. They lived in the city of Plano most of their married life.
Judy accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior when she was only seven years old. This was partly due to the influence of her parents, who were firm Christian believers, but also because of her Sunday school teacher. This woman's influence caused Judy to volunteer as a Sunday school teacher as well. The church she and Steven have attended since 1994 is now named Chase Oaks Church. Steven and Judy attend the Legacy campus of the church in Plano.
Judy is loved and will be missed by many people.
