It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Judith Johnson Kossack, affectionately known as "Nonny," who left this world peacefully on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at the age of 76. Her departure has left an indelible void in the lives of all who knew her, but her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever resonate in our hearts.
Born on January 24, 1948, in Whittier, California, to Roscoe Franklin Johnson and Frances Arlene Graves, Judith was the cherished youngest child and the only daughter among her two older brothers, George and Jim. Her upbringing was marked by moves across states, from Michigan to Washington D.C., and California before settling in Plano, Texas in 1974, where she built her cherished home.
Judith was the epitome of warmth, kindness, and strength. Her life was a testament to selflessness, dedicating herself to her family, friends, and the broader community. She possessed a unique ability to make every person she encountered feel valued and loved. Her laughter, wisdom, and gentle spirit were not just comforting but transformative, touching lives in ways that will be missed profoundly.
As a dedicated mother, Judith raised three children, James Kossack, Shelley Tennant, and Marile Hendrickson, and was an adored grandmother to eight grandchildren: Ariel, Elise, and Jessica Hendrickson; Brittany Saucedo; Brooke Schwinn; Addison and Laurel Tennant; and Kathrine Clark. She also had the joy of four great-grandchildren, each one a testament to her legacy of love.
Beyond her immediate family, Judith was an aunt, sister, and friend whose nurturing presence was a beacon of comfort and guidance. She had a special knack for sharing life's simple pleasures, whether through her culinary delights, the stories she told, or the games she played with both young and old. Her hobbies were an extension of her soul, finding joy in sewing, art, board games, and cooking, and she had a particular fondness for rescuing animals, showcasing her deep-seated love for all living beings.
After a successful career as a Business Manager, Judith embraced retirement by becoming a caregiver, further exemplifying her love for children and her nurturing spirit. She was an active member of Prestonwood Baptist Church, where she made many lifelong friends.
Judith's life was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe and Frances Johnson, her brother Jim Johnson, and her son James Kossack. Though she has passed from this world, her warmth, devotion, and enduring spirit will continue to guide and comfort us. The traditions and memories she leaves behind will keep her memory alive for generations to come.
Rest in peace, dear Nonny. You will forever be in our hearts.
