Juanita Mcginnis

March 14, 1938 — January 24, 2024

Juanita Sanders McGinnis, 85, passed into God’s heavenly presence on January 21, 2024. Born in Los Angeles in 1938 to Richard and Grace Sanders, Juanita graduated from Burbank High School in 1956 and UCLA in 1959. After graduation, she taught school for a year and worked for the Rand Corporation. She later joined Campus Crusade for Christ, serving as secretary for Bill Bright.

A single woman for most of her life, Juanita reconnected with former Campus Crusade friend, Oscar McGinnis, marrying him in 1986 and moving to Plano, Texas where she lived for the remainder of her life. After marriage, Juanita worked at Christian Medical and Dental Society, Fellowship Dallas Church and Fellowship North Church, doing administrative work.

She was a faithful attendee of Fellowship North/Chase Oaks Church and up until her last years, was active in grading Bible correspondence courses for Write-Way Prison Ministries.

Juanita maintained many friendships and was known for her cheerful, loyal and loving nature. She had a passion for helping people and animals, and loved her extended family. She enjoyed going to lunch with friends and celebrating birthday parties, and adored her many pets.

She is survived by husband Oscar, step-sons Jon (Celina) and Jay (Kristie); grandchildren Zachery, Gage, Morgan, and Gretta; brothers-in-law David McGinnis (Patty) and Greg McGinnis (Nancy); sister-in-law Ann Beaver; cousin David Reed; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held on March 16, 2024 at 10:00 am in The Legacy Room at Chase Oaks Church, 281 Legacy Dr., Plano, Texas 75023. The service will be live streamed for those wishing to join in who cannot attend: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82861594845?pwd=MWh2SVNlTVNpOTlCTzEydUhiWUI0Zz09
