Juanita L. Baldwin

May 19, 1941 — February 10, 2021

Juanita “Janie/Jane” Lopez Baldwin, 79, of Richardson, Texas passed away peacefully at home with beloved family and her loyal lap dog, Quincy, on February 10, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer.  Juanita Baldwin was the daughter of Baudelia (Rocha) and Tomas Lopez, who preceded her in death.

Janie with her mother and siblings immigrated to the United States from Mexico in 1953 with the family settling in the Rio Grande Valley.  Working as migrant laborers in the fields, they worked hard to be good citizens.  After graduating from Edcouch Elsa High School and being granted naturalized citizen status, the family moved to Toledo, Ohio where she worked at Mercy Hospital in administration.  In 1962, she met Thomas Baldwin and married. They began a life of family and one of continued devotion to the Roman Catholic faith. The family later moved to Portland, Texas and Janie was a devoted wife, mother and later worked in cosmetic sales. In 1990, she moved to Dallas and worked as a makeup artist.  She had a servant’s heart and was there to help anyone in need and plant the seed of Love and Forgiveness in anyone who would listen to her. She was an avid gardener and could grow anything with her green thumb, always willing to send you home with a clipping or new flower/plant.  She was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church serving as a “coffee minister”, she served up lattes and other coffee options on Sunday mornings before mass.  She was a friend, mentor, confidant to so many over the years and would always offer a cup of coffee and a listening ear and a smile, she was known for being the BEST listener.  She had a group of strong friends who meant so much to her, especially, Esther, Alicia, Soon-Mi, and Elizabeth.  She took them under her wings with love, with care, with coffee and hazelnut creamer… a MUST (!) or tea, her listening ear and they became her “sisters”, “daughters” and her very best friends.  Janie was filled with the grace of God and was the rock of her family and friends, and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Baldwin of Richardson, Texas;  son, David Baldwin (Nora) of Cedar Park, Texas; daughter, Jennifer “Jenny” Dyer (Todd) of Southlake, Texas; son,  Aaron Baldwin (Angie) of Richardson, Texas; foster daughter, Lori Houser of Arizona; five grandchildren, Dylan Baldwin, Kohl Dyer, Libby Dyer, William Baldwin and Emery Baldwin; two sisters, Catalina and Raul Sanchez and Juana Anita and Jose’ Flores; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She is welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven by her parents; brother, Pedro Lopez; sisters, Carmen Lopez and Maria Lopez Guzman and her son, Michael Baldwin.

A celebration of a life well lived as a humble and faithful servant of God will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Richardson, Texas on Saturday, February 27, 2020.  The family welcomes you to attend the Rosary at 9:30am, with the Funeral Mass at 10:00am, followed by inurment in her final resting place, St. Joseph’s Columbarium.

If it is your wish, the family suggests memorial contributions, in Janie’s name, may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 600 South Jupiter Road, Richardson, TX 75081.
