Joshua James Erickson

May 13, 1977 — August 11, 2020

Joshua James Erickson was born May 13, 1977 in Provo, Utah to parents Ronald W.B. and Vickie (Guess) Erickson.

Joshua is a man of deep feeling and tremendous compassion. More than anything he loved his wife, Kyna, and their children Caleb and Hannah. Family time abounded with cooking, games, drawing, movies, walks and laughter. In all of this, Josh listened eagerly to the thoughts, dreams and conversation of his family. He affirmed, encouraged and reveled in their interests and pursuits.

An eager learner, Josh enjoyed and excelled at visual art, design, photography and video. An effective teacher, Josh thrilled in sharing. He enthusiastically, genuinely, adopted and enquired after the hobbies and passions of family and friends. Perceived as reserved, he surprised and delighted with a sense of humor that animated his whole frame. Josh has deep love and gratitude for his Savior, Jesus Christ. He marveled at the beauty of God’s creation.

The son of Ron and Vickie, Josh is one of five brothers – Lucas, Jordan, Isaac and Joseph – all of whom hold a cherished place in his heart. They grew up wrestling, learning martial arts and working together. He was raised in Utah, Louisiana and Texas. In his childhood he loved soccer, swimming, camping and roller blading.  He also leaves behind aunts, uncles and cousins from the Erickson (Benning) and Guess families, many of whom enjoyed his quiet humor and calm spirit.

Josh served a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Indiana. Josh and Kyna were married for time and eternity in the Washington, D.C. Temple.

At 43, he leaves us too soon and will be deeply missed. He is also survived by adoring parents-in-law, Necia and Harl Adams, several sisters- and brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews, whose successes he cheered.

He is survived by his loving wife Kyna Adams Erickson; son Caleb Joshua Erickson; daughter Hannah Joy Erickson; parents Ronald W.B. and Vickie Erickson; siblings Lucas Erickson and his wife Shannon, Jordan Erickson and his wife Jenny, Isaac Erickson and his wife Maren and Joseph Erickson and his wife Rachel; father and mother in law Harl L. and Necia C Adams; brothers and sisters in law Wesley Adams and his wife Kellie, Tya Simmons and her husband David, Trever Adams and Misty Franson and her husband Nathan; and many adoring nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends for an Evening of Remembrance, Monday, August 17, 2020 from 7-9:00 P.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 902 N. Chinn Chapel Rd., Highland Village, Texas 75077.

There will be a private memorial service for family later.
