On July 26, 2022, Joseph T. Gorman passed away at the age of ninety-one.
Joe was born on March 23, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan to Catherine and Stephen Gorman. He attended Catholic boarding school for most of his education and graduated from Marmion Military Academy in Aurora, Illinois. Joe served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a very proud veteran.
Joe worked in the food business for most of his life. He retired from the Morton Salt Company in 1995 after a 30-year career.
Joe never met a stranger. He enjoyed people and would talk to anyone. He was part of many large social groups (including the Knights of Columbus and the Elks) and loved gathering with friends at his favorite restaurants. An avid sports fan, Joe enjoyed rooting for his home state Detroit Tigers and University of Michigan Wolverines. He spent most autumn Saturday afternoons watching college football.
Joe is survived by his daughter Colleen Gorman, son Joseph Gorman, Jr., daughter-in-law Coleen Gorman, and grandsons Joseph Gorman, III (wife Stephanie), Patrick Gorman, and Brian Gorman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Stephen, his infant twin sons Patrick and Michael, his first wife Dolores (who died in 1999), and his second wife Dorothy (who died in 2018).
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (with a Rosary service at 8:00 p.m.) on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, for family and friends at Allen Family Funeral Options (Plano, Texas).
