Jose Ramon Velez Alvarez

José Ramón Vélez Álvarez was born in Mayagüez Puerto Rico on July 5, 1926 son of Julio Vélez Odiot Martínez and Maria Rosario Álvarez Rivera Castillo. Died peacefully on April 25, 2021.

Don José familiar amongst his siblings and his family as Mon and known as Ramón by family in-laws. José Ramón relocated from his native Mayagüez, Puerto Rico, in 1956, where he owned and operated a moving company and a furniture store in Brooklyn and Manhattan, New York. In October 1963, he sold his business and returned to his beloved Island. While in Puerto Rico, José Ramón pursued Real Estate primarily in fincas or old farming land and other business interests. He then relocated to Dallas, Texas, followed to Florida, where he lived with his wife Lydia and some of his children.

José Ramón was known amongst friends, acquaintances, and family as a friendly and always kind and welcoming person. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and family member; he loved his family and always remembered them kindly.

José Ramón had a passion for classic cars, and he owned many of the classic cars we love today. The Argentinian Tango was his favorite music, and Carlos Gardel was his idol. He loved to sing at our friend's family gatherings, where he was always a great host. He also loved going to flea markets, and while in Florida, he asked me to take him to the flea market at 95; he would out walk anyone carousing the flea market stalls.

José Ramón is survived by his loving wife Carmen Lydia Rosario. Son Lionel, and Eduardo; daughters in-law Patricia Ann Vélez Kenney, and Claudia Vélez Cabrera; grand-children José Lionel and wife Luciana; Gustavo Adolfo and wife Kristen; Linnette Alejandra, Ricardo Alfonso, Cristian, Antonio Alejandro, and Ivan Alexis. Great-grand-children; Isabel Sofia, Lilian Rose, Mia Abigail, Giulia, and Victoria.

He will be joining his other sons Wilson, Morgan, and Noel in heaven, who is awaiting him with open arms.

His funeral services will take place in Haines City, Florida, at Santa Ana Catholic Church on Monday, May 3rd, where he was a member.
