Joni Lynn Mefford

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joni Lynn Mefford on September 14, 2026. Joni passed surrounded by her family and friends.

Joni was born in Auburn, Indiana on December 2, 1965, and grew up surrounded by her family and friends. In 1983, she moved with her mother, Sharon Hannes, and stepfather, Fred Hannes, to Plano, Texas, which quickly became home. During her early years in Plano, she worked in various roles at Fishmonger’s Seafood market and restaurant, making fast friends in the community and regulars out of patrons.

In 1989, she joined Golden Tickets as a ticket broker and was one of the first women to make a name for herself in the events industry. She was wickedly smart, honest, and hard-working, making her one of the most respected and beloved brokers and sales managers in the business. Her colleagues, family, and friends will remember her for the spitfire she was, whether she was making us laugh or closing the sale.

Joni was stepmother to Matthew and Adrian Mefford, raising them from the ages of 10 and 8 as her own. She loved them fiercely and instilled in them her take-no-nonsense demeanor.

Joni loved traveling for work and pleasure, exploring the world, and celebrating life with friends and family. She loved the colorful Texas sunsets, was the ultimate sports fanatic, and was never embarrassed to cheer (or whistle) louder than anyone around her. Joni was the biggest animal lover and spoiled every furry friend she met.

We will sorely miss her spunk, feistiness, and passion.

Joni is survived by her mother Sharon, stepfather Fred, children Adrian and Matthew, sister Jama, brother-in-law Mark, uncle Steve, aunt LaDonna, uncle Frank, aunt Nancy, her nieces Maddie and Emma and her best friends of over 40 years Jan, Steve and Ram

A celebration of Joni’s life will be held from 5-7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 22, 2026, at Allen Family Funeral Options, Plano, Texas.
