John “Terry” Detrick was born February 11, 1936, in Eldon, Iowa to parents John Wilbur and Gladys (Cowan) Detrick. He took his last breaths July 19, 2022, around 6:30 p.m.
Terry lived a life of adventure. He was a Navy Officer that missed the Korean War and Vietnam War. He quit working with IBM when they wanted him to live in Chicago. We lived there for 6 months before we moved to Costa Mesa, California.
He bought and sold main frame computers and found a passion for the game of soccer. He was the AYSO Region 120 commissioner, a coach and referee. I remember him taking us to the California Surf games at Anaheim Stadium.
Terry also had a love for boating, water skiing, drinking Coors (and other adult drinks). He played a lot of tennis with one hell of a serve and come hunting season he was out the door Sept. 1st to get those Dove and Quail for the Thanksgiving Game Appetizers.
If you have a good memory of my dad, could you please share? RIP dad.
He is survived by his sons Mark and Michael Detrick and grandchildren Madelyn and Matthew Detrick.
There will be a graveside service for Terry at the Dallas Ft. Worth Cemetery, Friday, August 12, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. with military honors in Dallas, Texas.
