John Ratcliff

June 23, 1954 — December 23, 2021

John Eric Ratcliff, 67, passed away peacefully at his home on December 23, 2021. A native Texan, John was born to John Prentice and Barbara "Peggy" Ratcliff. He spent his childhood years in southern Ohio where he played football and graduated from Fairland High School.

John attended Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, then later moved to the DFW area where he made his home. He spent most of his career in the auto industry where he was consistently recognized for his outstanding performance until he retired.


John was a true patriot and veteran who loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was his own man, colorful storyteller, avid hunter, nature lover and photographer. He was also a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and thoroughly enjoyed going out to his "ranch" where he hunted with close family and friends.

John is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Nancy, of 23 years, and their children, Chad (Angie) and Eric of Proctorville, Ohio, Paul (Jaylee) Lally of Midland, Texas, Shannon Lally (Adam Hernandez) of Plano, Texas; beloved mother, Barbara Ratcliff, of McKinney, Texas and siblings, Anna (Kyle) Jarnagin of Cypress, Texas, Janet (Lee) Landers of McKinney, Texas, David (Jana) Ratcliff of DeSoto, Texas, and Marjorie (Michael) Parenteau of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandsons, Calvin and Hunter of Proctorville, Ohio and Landry of Plano, Texas. John thoroughly enjoyed and loved his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, John Prentice Ratcliff.

John will be laid to eternal rest with military honors at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Friday, December 31, 2021 at 11:15 a.m.
