John Edward Jackson passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025, after a lengthy battle with Diabetes and related complications.
He was born on January 13, 1947, in Winnsboro, Louisiana and was the first child of J.W. (Jack) and Barbara (Bobbie) Jackson, followed by two younger brothers, Larry and Randy. John loved to reminisce about growing up in the country with his brothers and having a whole swamp as their playground where they climbed trees, caught snakes, and went fishing with their mother.
In the 1960s, during the Vietnam era, John proudly served in the United States Army as a driver for a commanding general, stationed at Wildflecken Base in Germany. Though he rarely spoke of his service, those who knew John understood the commitment and loyalty he carried forward from that time—and the pride he felt in being a Veteran.
John married the love of his life, Laura, in 1980, and they shared three treasured children Jeffrey Jackson (born 1971), Holly Kelly (born 1974), and Heather Flanery (born 1977). He was thrilled to welcome four grandchildren—Reid Jackson (born 2007), Ayden Flanery (born 2008), Caroline Jackson (born 2009), and Brenden Flanery (born 2013), each one adored, celebrated, and convinced they were Grandpa’s / BaBa’s favorite.
John retired in 2017 after a distinguished 45-year career at Vinson Process Controls Supply in Carrollton, Texas. Retirement fulfilled a long-held dream: he and Laura moved to Holly Lake Ranch, settling into the piney woods of East Texas. There, he discovered not only tall trees and quiet mornings, but a loving community of friends who quickly felt like family. While volunteering with Kiwanis club, Meals on Wheels, Special Olympics and many other local charity events, they built bonds that seemed to have existed for a lifetime.
John was the quiet hero of his family. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, children, grandchildren, extended family, and a host of friends, as a man who served his Lord and Savior… a man who worked hard, lived simply, and cherished what truly mattered … a man whose presence brought calm, steadiness and comfort … a man whose greatest joy in life was being a husband, father, and grandfather.
The family will receive friends at a visitation from 2-4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Allen Family Funeral Options.
John will be laid to rest at a private service with military honors at the Dallas/Ft Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
A Celebration of Life will be held in January at Holly Brook Baptist Church.
In honoring John, his family invites others to look for someone who needs a helping hand, and offer it willingly, just as he always did.
