Joe Campbell

Joe Campbell, 72, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018, in Plano, Texas. He was born September 11, 1945, in Roswell, New Mexico to parents Adrian B. and Evelyn (Hunnicut) Campbell. Joe (aka “Butch”) grew up on ranches and farms in New Mexico and Colorado. He graduated from Fruita High School (Colorado) in 1963, attended Moody Bible Institute and graduated from Wheaton College in Chicago in 1969.

After graduating from the Naval Aviation Officer Candidate School in Pensacola, Florida, Joe was commissioned an Ensign in November 1969 and became a Lieutenant in 1973. After living in several locations including being deployed overseas, he was stationed in Jacksonville, Florida where he met and then married Kathy in 1975. His Navy career ended March, 1978. Afterwards, he worked in several companies, including Texas Instruments, various commercial real estate jobs and contract work.

Joe is survived by his wife Kathy, son Paul and his wife Kimba, son John, daughter Deborah, grandchildren Caden, Kyler and Landis, sister Frankie Vance, nieces and nephews and brother-in-law George Moore. He was preceded in death by his parents Adrian B. and Evelyn Campbell, his sister Iris Moore, great niece Kaitlin Copelin and brother-in-law Lane Vance.

Joe loved God, family and friends and he never met a stranger. He was proud of each of his children and grandchildren and his favorite past time was making his grandkids laugh.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 4:00-6:00pm on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Allen Family Funeral Options.  He will be buried with Navy honors at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211 at 10:00 am on Monday, July 9, 2018.
