Joan I. Peters Frost

May 6, 1928 — February 12, 2018

Joan Peters Frost was born on May 6, 1928, and went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 12, 2018.

She was born in Mineral Wells, Texas, to Morris Garner and Charles David Ingram, Sr. She was born into a Christian home and accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of 9.

Joan married Doyle Peters on May 27, 1950, and they had two daughters, Deborah and Elaine. She would often talk about Doyle and how he was a faithful husband and a loving father and a deacon and Sunday school teacher at their local church. Doyle preceded her in death in 1972. His death left Joan devastated, but she clung to the words of the prophet in Isaiah 43:2:

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.

She knew the Lord would be with her and give her the strength she needed. Her prayers were answered in 1977. Joan married Lt. Col. Rufus “Bob” Frost, whom she had actually dated in high school in the 1940s and had not seen in many years. Joan loved to travel and play golf with Bob. Her loving Bob preceded her in death in 2011.

Joan loved volunteering at Prestonwood Baptist Church and could often be found greeting guests in the Atrium, helping someone find a Bible study class, and telling everyone she met about her love for Jesus. She particularly had a heart for PowerPoint Ministries and led a group of dozens of volunteers. She and Bob also co-founded the Military Ministry at Prestonwood to serve our soldiers. She loved and served her Lord, her family and her country.

Joan was preceded in death by her husbands, Doyle Peters and Lt. Col. Rufus Frost. She is survived by her two beloved daughters, Deborah Peters Graham and her husband, Dr. Jack Graham; and Morris Elaine Troupe and her husband, Troy Troupe; many loving grandchildren: Jason Graham and his wife, Toby; Kelly Flores and her husband, Jason; Josh Graham and his wife, Kaytie; Ellen Clickard and her husband, Daniel; and Rachel Troupe; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving Joan are the children of Lt. Col. Rufus Frost: Sherry Barber and her husband, Jim; and Tina Burgess.

A funeral service will be held to honor the Lord and celebrate Joan's life on Wednesday, February 14, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. in the Faith Chapel at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W Park Blvd, Plano, Texas, 75093 with Dr. Jack Graham and Dr. David McKinley officiating. Joan will be laid to rest at Woodland Park Cemetery, Mineral Wells, Texas
