Jennifer (Jenny) Scott

May 1, 1969 — January 13, 2023

Jennifer (Jenny) Louise Scott was born on May 1, 1969, in Chula Vista, California to proud parents Ronald and Joan Scott.

She was a generous and loving daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Jenny passed away on January 13, 2023, at the age of 53; after a lifelong struggle with muscular dystrophy which left her unable to combat a severe case of pneumonia. She was at home surrounded by loved ones on her final day.

Her family moved to Plano, Texas in 1974 when her dad relocated for work with IBM. Jenny was the oldest of three sisters and she handled the duty with grace and love. Because of the example she set, she and her sisters had a very strong bond. Along with their parents, the three sisters explored the country in their camper during summer vacations.

Traveling with family and friends was something Jenny loved and continued to do throughout her years. She graduated from Plano Senior High in 1987. While in high school, Jenny met her best friend, Matt Minick.  They kept a special friendship over the past 37 years. When the two of them were together there was always laughter.

After graduating from high school, she obtained her associates degree in business and she spent the early years of her career as a proposal coordinator at EDS in Plano, Texas.

While working as a young professional Jenny sought support for a stutter that she developed in middle school. She became an active member of the National Stutters Association. Within this organization she was able to let her guard down and be herself. She made many strong friendships with the community and traveled annually to their national conferences around the United States.

Jenny also joined the Jazzercise craze in the late 90’s and never looked back. She attended classes three times a week for most of her adult life. Most recently, she took classes at the Carpenter Recreation Center where she developed lifelong friendships with her instructor and classmates.

When Jenny’s legs got weaker and it was hard for her to walk, she would still get herself to class every week and as the MD progressed, she found it necessary to transition to part-time employment.

She joined Market Street as a cashier at Waters Crossing in Allen, Texas. She was a beloved member of the team and enjoyed interacting with customers. Because of her cheerful smile and laughter, she was a favorite among the regular shoppers.

When Jenny was no longer able to work, she spent her time with family and friends. She was the proud aunt to Garin, Hatcher, Brooke, and Parker. She loved them as if they were her own children. Always celebrating their accomplishments and showering them with her endless love. She loved participating in their games and accepting the annual challenge of completing jigsaw puzzles with them. But Jenny’s favorite person in the world was her mother, with whom she had spent every day in her life with. They enjoyed traveling together and more recently just having daily outings around town. Jenny was a treasure in this world and had an uncanny ability to find happiness in everyday activities. Her sweet, funny and friendly personality was contagious to everyone she met. She will be greatly missed.

Jenny is survived by her mother, Joan Scott; sisters Samantha Varjian and her husband Richard and Kelly Morris and her husband Michael; nieces and nephews Garin Varjian, Hatcher, Brooke and Parker Morris. She was preceded in death by her father Ronald Scott.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate Jenny’s life at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 30, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas with The Rev Bruce Bradley officiating.
