Jeanne Charlotte Mcmahon

Jeanne Charlotte Dougherty McMahon, age 95, passed away peacefully at home with her family by her side. Jeanne was born on June 23, 1922, in Chicago Illinois, to Jean and Charlotte (Kelly) Dougherty. She grew up in Rockford Illinois. She met Dennis “Din”, her future husband, in 1938 when she was 16 years old. They dated for a couple years and then World War II started. But, they kept in touch. After high school, she attended business school, helped out at the USO and also trained as a flyer to ferry planes during the war.

Jeanne and Din were married October 20, 1944, a war time bride. They welcomed their first child in 1945. In 1950, Din’s company had an opening in Texas, so they went for a visit, in November. Jeanne said everyone was wearing shorts and it was warm so she proclaimed, “We are moving.” They moved to Denton, Texas where they raised their family until moving to Farmers Branch. Jeanne went back to work when their children were in their teens. She worked as an executive secretary for Ryder Regional Trucking Company where she retired after 15 years. Jeanne spent the rest of her life painting, making jewelry, reading, listening to music and eating chocolate from morning to night. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Jack; husband Dennis, of 58 year, and her daughter, Deanne. Jeanne is survived by her 2 sons and daughter, Mike (Alice) McMahon, Eileen McMahon and Dan (Nancy) McMahon; three grandchildren, Dennis (Cambri) McMahon, Helen (David) Taylor and Christopher (Katy McMahon); and four great grandchildren, Michael, David, Madelyn and Desiree.

The family will receive friends at a visitation Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 7:00 – 8:30pm at Allen Family Funeral Options, Plano, Texas. A Graveside service will be on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 11:15am at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery (Lane 2).
