Jeanne Elizabeth (Jennings) Grissom, 71, reached the end of her long battle with Parkinson’s disease on Friday, Oct. 19, 2018. She was born in Wynnewood, Oklahoma, on March 17, 1947, to James A. Jennings Jr. and Betty Jean Tripp. Since 1981, Jeanne lived in Plano, Texas, where she met Burke Asher, to whom she was married for the last 28 years of her life. Like her mother before her, she spent most of her life as a working mother, eventually retiring from Occidental Chemical Corp. to enjoy her remaining years travelling the world and catching up on her reading.
With a spirit of adventure and boundless curiosity, Jeanne was an elegant socialite, a determined individualist, a devoted fan of music, a lover of animals, a constant source of guidance, and always up for a good laugh. Most of all, she will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Burke; her daughter, Dawn Wilds; her son, Jason Grissom; her granddaughters, Stephanie Rangel and Nicole Moran; her great-granddaughters, Jada Rangel and Cambria Moran; and her brother, James A. Jennings III.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 10, at 11 a.m. at Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano, Texas. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Dallas Area Parkinsonism Society.
