Jeanine Wofford

November 29, 1933 — November 28, 2025

Plano, Texas

Jeanine Wofford, 91, of Plano, Texas passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, just one day prior to her birthday. Jeanine was born in Rice, Minnesota on November 29,1933 to William and Evelyne Burke.

She grew up in El Paso, Texas where she graduated from Austin High School and married the love of her life, Charles on December 22, 1951 while he was serving in the U.S Navy during the Korean Conflict. She worked as a bank teller in El Paso until Charles was discharged from the Navy in 1953 and continued in that position while Charles completed his degree at Texas Western College (now UT El Paso).

Jeanine is survived by her three children Steve, and his wife Mary (Renshaw), Mike and his wife Rose (Bevilacqua) and Susan, and her husband Michael Mead. Jeanine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles and her grandchildren, Michael and Robert. She is survived by her remaining grandchildren Chase, and his wife Kylee (Trawick) of Nashville, Tennessee, Stephanie of Denver, Colorado, Burke of Dallas, Texas and Jason of Columbus, Ohio.

Jeanine and her family moved to Richardson, Texas in 1958, to Sherman, Texas in 1966, then lived abroad from 1970 to 1976 in Bedford, England for five years and in Cap D’Antibes, France for 1 year before returning back to Dallas, Texas where they lived for the next 18 years. Jeanine and Charles lived in Manhattan Beach, California for a year and a half then spent the reminder of their years in Texas living in Frisco and Plano.

Jeanine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and her closest friends describe her as being very eloquent, cultured and articulate. She became a Gold Life Master bridge player, an accomplishment of which she was extremely proud. Her passion for bridge was second only to her love for her family, close friends, faith in the Lord and her pets. Jeanine’s cherished pets were Tiny, her precious ‘kitty’; Taffy, Cindy and Sandy, her adorable cocker spaniels; and Countess, Annie, Katie, Zoe, Schatzi and Leisl, her loyal and treasured German Shepherds.

Jeanine traveled throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas broadening her knowledge of the world, history and cultures. She never tired of learning more. Her other interests included playing the piano, sewing, needlepointing, crocheting, brass rubbing, reading, wildlife, animals, gardening, classical music and of course, cooking and enjoying gourmet food. She generously donated to her Church, wildlife and veterans' causes, and many other charities she felt moved to support.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Jeanine’s memory to the Pride Rock Wildlife Refuge at: https://priderock.org/ or Agape Resource and Assistance Center at: https://www.hope4agape.org/
