Janet Marie Strickland was born January 22, 1947 in Little Rock, Arkansas to parents John Woodford and Johnnie (Mc Donald) Shryock, Sr.
Janet and her twin sister, Janis, were the youngest in a family of six children. Growing up as a young girl in Brinkley, Arkansas, Janet and her sister enjoyed make-believe play and often invited their neighborhood friends to join in the fun. Family was important to her, and Janet loved tagging along with her brother, Bill, on his ice cream truck and being a junior bridesmaid in her older sister’s wedding.
A few years after graduating from El Dorado High School, Janet and Janis moved to Dallas to experience big city life, and it’s there that Janet met her future husband, Bob. In 1972, she and Bob welcomed twin daughters, Stacy and Crissy. When the girls were two years old, Janet started working for Plano Independent School District. She would go on to work for PISD for thirty-seven years in library media services as a secretary and office manager.
She enjoyed traveling and made several trips to Europe with Janis and a memorable trip to the Holy Land with her church. She loved being a Nana to her four grandchildren, and she especially enjoyed having them at her house where they could play with Stacy and Crissy’s old toys. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Plano where she met many lifelong friends.
Janet is survived by her twin daughters Stacy Cameron and her husband Rob and Crissy Casey and her husband Patrick; grandchildren Maddie and Cody Cameron and Faith and Parker Casey; twin sister Janis Dembach and her wife Marion Wagner; brother Woody Shryock and his wife Patty; sister Anita Waterston and her husband Bob and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Bill and Don Shryock.
