Janet L Hall (Jan) passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025. She was born November 3, 1944, to Charles and Carlotta Hall; the third of their six children. Jan attended Midview High School, in Elyria, Ohio.
She married Andy Gerush at just 19 years old. Andy’s biggest dream was to move to Texas, so they did so in 1972 with their young son and daughter – both blond with blue eyes and left-handed like their mom. Her parenting style resulted in them being fiercely independent and successful adults.
Jan started working at Southwest Airlines in 1977, where she blossomed under the tutelage of Herb Kelleher and Colleen Barrett. Southwest was responsible for many happy family memories and inspired Jan’s love of travel. Jan and her second husband (Steve Lindley) traveled extensively – Paris was her favorite destination.
A loner in her old age, and despite the divorce and multiple moves, she remained friends with her and Andy’s earliest friends: Chuck and Barb Ehrman. Over 60 years after they met, they still describe her as kind and loving.
Jan became the cool granny of four grandchildren. They were inspired by her love of rock and roll, especially Led Zeppelin. They will miss her zany sense of humor that always kept them on their toes.
Jan was preceded in death by her parents and her brother and sister-in-law (Charles and Barbara Hall). She is survived by daughter Julie (Shawn), son Jon (Mary), grandchildren Jordan, Justin, Kristen (Mitchel), and Allison, and great-grandchildren Levi and Callie who will be celebrating / grieving privately in lieu of a service. She is also survived by her sisters Joanne, Judy, Jeannie, and Carla, and many nieces and nephews.
