Jana Kay Jenkins was born on May 10, 1955 in Lubbock, Texas to John C. and Juanita Harbert Jenkins. She died February 1, 2021 in Plano, Texas.
Jana graduated from Lorenzo High School, Lorenzo, Texas in 1973. She graduated from Hardin-Simmons University with a degree in Business Administration. She was a member of Tri Phi Social Club. Jana also did post graduate studies at Texas Tech University. She was a star basketball and softball player in her younger years but she fell in love with golf later in life. She won many golf tournaments all over the South Plains area. She was known as a fierce competitor.
Jana held several positions in business in Lubbock and Midland, and for many years she worked for Rhode Construction in Lubbock. She moved to Dallas and was hired in the Bond Reconciliation Department of J.P. Morgan Chase. She was employed for ten years as the Office Manager of Jenkins Medical Associates in Plano. She retired in 2018.
Jana is survived by two brothers, Jarrell Jenkins of Lubbock, Jim Jenkins of McKinney, “her kids” were her six nieces and nephews: Lance Lokey of Lubbock, Kasie Jenkins of El Paso, Kristie Jenkins-Franklin of Lubbock, Jeff Jenkins of Plano, Brad Jenkins of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Doug Jenkins of Plano.
A Celebration of Jana’s life will be held this summer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Marsha Sharp Leadership Circle at Texas Tech University. Checks can be made payable to Texas Tech Foundation, Inc., include “In memory of Jana Jenkins” in check memo and mail to TTU Red Raider Club, Box 45055, Lubbock, TX 79409-5055.
