James Madison Martin, Jr.

January 10, 1939 — April 15, 2018

James Madison Martin, Jr. was born in St. Louis, MO on January 10, 1939 to James Madison, Sr. & Eula Grace (Short) Martin; he was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian church. At 18 years of age he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Clovis, NM where he served for four years. During that time he met his wife, Linda Joye (Hiner); they were married on December 30, 1958 in Muleshoe, TX. Over the next four years they were blessed with a son, James M. Martin III in January 1960, and two daughters, Pamela Susan in December of 1961 and Cynthia Lynn in February of 1963.

After he was honorably discharged from the Air Force, Jim returned to St. Louis with his wife and family and began his career in management at McDonnell Douglas; he also served as a Reserve Police Officer for Saint Charles County for many years. Jim was a 32 nd Degree Mason and attended the Masonic Lodge in Defiance, MO. In 1980 Jim & Linda began their global adventures and moved to Saudi Arabia where he oversaw the F/A-18 project; from there they moved to Australia and later Kuwait before retiring in 1996. Choosing to continue their adventurous lifestyle, they wintered in Florida and summered in Missouri, often taking many of their grandchildren with them on trips around the country in their camper. They settled for many years in Sebring, Florida, and then eventually moved to Phoenix, Arizona for a time, before living out the final years of his life with their son in Missouri and their daughter in Texas.

After battling Parkinson’s Disease for many years, Jim passed from this life and into the arms of his Savior on April 15, 2018; there he awaits the resurrection of the body.

Jim is survived by his wife, Linda; son James (Terri) Martin III, of Lake Saint Louis, MO; daughter Cindy (Brad) Browne, of Allen, TX; twelve grandchildren: James (Michelle) Martin IV, Steven Zurian, Branden (Katherine) Martin, Jon Zurian, Kathryn (Matthew) Gefaller, Anna (Kyle) Logsdon, Paul Zurian, Aaron Browne, Tyler Martin, Kimberly Zurian, Rebecca Browne, and Kara (Jordan) Knabach; twelve great-grandchildren: Madison Zurian, Jaycie and Mason Martin, Bailey Zurian, Reagan, Elijah, Joanna, and Eden Gefaller, Kaylie, Avery, and Chase Logsdon, and Peter Knabach; brother Donald (Linda) Martin and sister Janet (Charles) Moore; as well as many other family members and friends around the country and the globe. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, as well as his daughter, Pamela.
A visitation will be held on April 19, 2018, 6:00 - 7:00 pm at Allen Family Funeral Options, 2120 W SpringCreek Pkwy, Ste. E, Plano, Tx 75023. James will be laid to rest on April 20, 2018 at 10:00 am, DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas Tx
