On Wednesday, September 9, 2020, James Edward Basham, "Jim" went home to Jesus. He took his last breath with his wife Jamie and son Cole by his side.
Jim was born November 10, 1954, in Montgomery, West Virginia to Edward and Doris Basham. He spent his early years in Dry Branch, West Virginia. Throughout his childhood and school years, he lived in Sneads Ferry, Verona, and Jacksonville, North Carolina. Jim attended Dixon High School and enjoyed his years playing baseball and football. He earned a degree in Economics from Western Carolina University and a subsequent degree in Chemistry. Jim worked in the Industrial Chemical Solutions business for almost 40 years. During those years, he raised three amazing children that adored him. He was blessed with 4 grandchildren and for the last 20 years, he was in love, loved by, and doted on by his wife Jamie.
Jim enjoyed hunting and fishing and was known for his quick wit, funny stories, that famous Jim grin. Above all, Jim had a passion for life, he was always available to listen with his big heart.
A memorial service will to celebrate Jim's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, 2020, with Pastor Chris Jones officiating. There will be a reception and visitation one hour prior to the service at 12:00 noon with light refreshments being served. There will be a live stream of the service at
