James E. “Jim” Andrews was called to his heavenly home to be with Jesus on Thursday, November 7, 2019.
Jim, aka Jimmy / Dad / Papa / Grandpa Jim / Big Dog was born in Saint Joseph, Missouri on July 6, 1959.
Jim was raised on the family dairy farm in Hopkins, Missouri and graduated from North Nodaway High School in 1977. He married his high school sweetheart, Julie, on November 17, 1978. Together, they raised 3 children: Ashley, Jeana and August. The family spent many years living in Iowa before relocating to Texas in 2000.
Jim enjoyed riding his motorcycle with Julie and many friends throughout the years. He was involved in Patriot Guard, Snowball Express and escorting numerous triathlons on his motorcycle. He was a very well-respected softball umpire throughout many associations in Texas. Jim was very involved with his church and numerous programs such as Mixed Blessings Bible Fellowship, and the Security Team.
One of Jim’s most cherished roles was that of Papa to his 6 grandchildren. Jim introduced them to the Carol Burnett Show and spent many hours laughing and joking with them all. He and the grandbabies spent many evenings watching movies while eating ice cream and popcorn; always using his dedicated popcorn bowl for those special nights.
Jim is survived by the love of his life, Julie; their 3 children, Ashley (Beau) of Iowa, Jeana of New York, and August (Megan) of Maryland; 6 grandchildren and brothers Jeff (Sandy) Andrews and Jay Andrews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
The family will receive friends at a visitation on Monday, November 11, 2019, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Allen Family Funeral Options, 2112 W Spring Creek Parkway, Plano Texas 75023.
