James H. Funk

January 19, 1931 — June 4, 2026

Plano, Texas

James H. Funk, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 4, 2026, at the age of 95.

James lived a life defined by love, devotion, and family. He shared 67 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Winnie Funk. Together they built a family that became the center of his life and greatest source of pride.

While James enjoyed a successful career as a geophysicist with GSI, Standard Oil, and British Petroleum, he was most fulfilled by the time he spent with family and the hobbies he loved. He had a passion for photography, woodworking, leatherworking, and airplanes, approaching each with curiosity, creativity, and skill.

Those who knew James will remember his quiet strength, steady character, and unwavering dedication to the people he loved. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, integrity, and commitment to family that will continue to inspire future generations.

Though he will be deeply missed, the memories he created and the values he instilled will remain in the hearts of all who loved him.

Forever loved and forever remembered.

Frank is survived by his wife, Winnie; his children, James Funk Jr., Kathryn Brauer, and Michael Funk; along with 5 grandchildren, extended family, and many friends who were blessed to know him.

There will be a memorial mass at 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 6, 2026, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church followed by a reception.
