James Laverne Gesin

James Laverne Gesin, age 82, passed away suddenly at his home at Highland Springs Senior Living facility in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. The son of Myron and Laura Belle Gesin, he was born on October 26, 1939 in Kane, Pennsylvania. Jim graduated form East Forest High School in Marienville, Pennsylvania, followed by completing college at the University of Indiana in Indiana, Pennsylvania. He was a long time member of Custer Road United Methodist Church of Plano and of the Jubilee Sunday School class where his favorite buddies formed the "Bow Wow" group, meeting weekly for breakfast.

Jim was a project manager for 33 years for the J.C. Penney Company in New York City before being transferred to the company's new home in Plano, Texas in 1988, finally retiring in 1998. Jim's first love was his wife, Peggy, but his secondary devotion was to his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved all kinds of music, but especially rock and roll, enjoying concerts and his record and cassette collection of celebrities like Bruce Springsteen. His favorite place in the world was Kaanapalli Beach on Maui, Hawaii, where he and his wife vacationed 31 times in 30 years.

A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Peggy Jane Roman Gesin, brother Fred Lee Gesin and his wife Gail, his devoted children Laura Alice Gesin and Sherri Lynn Gesin and grandchildren Sarah Jane Fadem and Faye Fadem. Affectionately known as "Grandpa Texas", he will be dearly missed. Jim will be interred in the church columbarium at Custer Road United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. at "The Venue" at Custer Road United Methodist Church with Reverend Jack Gibson officiating.
