James Carl Amstutz (Jim) passed away peacefully on February 4, 2022. Born on April 17, 1930 in Willard OH, son of the late Carl James and Aileen (Pedicord) Amstutz.
Jim graduated Willard High in 1948 then joined the US Navy and served in the Korean War from 1948-1952 on the destroyer USS Helena. He then attended Heidelberg college where he met his late wife Ellen Marguerite (Wiechel) Amstutz.
He spent his professional life in the insurance industry in the cities of Winter Park, FL, Van Wert, OH, and Sandusky, OH. Active in the Van Wert Civic Theater, he loved to golf and take camping trips with his family, extended family and friends. As an accomplished cross stitcher, he won several awards throughout the state of Ohio.
Jim was preceded in death by wife Ellen Amstutz. He is survived by his three children, Barbara Ellen Amstutz of Dallas, TX, David James (Joyce) Amstutz of Plano, TX, and Mary Alice Wilson of Columbus, OH; two grandchildren, Allison Nicole Connatser of Carrollton, TX and Caitlin Ellen Amstutz (Jeff Garavalia) of Austin, TX; two great grandchildren, Aubrey Nicole Connatser and Lucas James Garavalia. Sister Shirley Ann Westenbarger of Frisco, TX; brother J. David (Jane) Amstutz of Chattanooga, TN and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
An afternoon of remembrance will be held on February 19, 2022 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm at Allen Family Funeral Options, 2112 W Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, TX. Inurnment of ashes will be later in Sandusky Ohio.
