Jacob Wayne Mason

July 6, 2001 — December 18, 2025

Garland, Texas

Jacob Wayne Mason was born July 6, 2001, to Debra Hobbs Mason and Marc Howard Mason of Garland, Texas. Along with his “big bro” Luke, they are a very close family who share their love and life with many extended family and great friends. Jacob was received into the arms of Christ early on the morning of December 18, 2025, surrounded by family.

He was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church, Richardson, Texas. Jacob’s faith was incredibly strong and a great comfort to him and his family as he battled against Metastatic Melanoma. He had a way of sharing his faith and encouraging his friends that was genuine and powerful. He was wise beyond his years.

Jacob was a natural athlete, playing select baseball for The Redhawks and select basketball for Gameface. He was a 4-year varsity basketball letterman for Naaman Forest High School in Garland. He had a beautiful 3-point shot and was a joy to watch play.

Jacob graduated from Naaman Forest High School in 2020 and received his associate’s degree in automotive technology from Universal Technical Institute in Irving, Texas in 2022.

He later realized he had a passion for golf and worked at Northwood Club in Dallas, where he made many deep friendships. His career goal was to become a golf pro.

Jacob’s favorite place in the world was our family property in Estes Park, Colorado. We were blessed to spend many summers there together playing golf, hiking, playing games, eating amazing food and enjoying time together.

Jacob’s incredible influence on his friends and family has made us all better, more patient and loving people.

Jacob is survived by his parents Marc and Debra Mason and brother Luke Mason of Garland, Texas; paternal grandparents Diane and Howard Mason of Sanford, North Carolina; aunts and uncles: Kari and Alan Hobbs of Lubbock, Texas, Shannon and Darren Mason of Rockport, Massachusetts, Denise and Bill Ryan of DePere, Wisconsin, Georgianna Oquaye of Sanford, North Carolina and Susan and Sean Mason of Valley City, Ohio; his first cousins Jessica, Dianna, Nate, Emmanuel, Olivia, Caroline, Jace, Miles, Tori, Ian, Will, Allie and Avery; many close extended family and amazing friends. Jacob is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Carolyn & Jerry Hobbs.

We will celebrate Jacob’s life in a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2026, at First United Methodist Church Richardson, 503 N. Central Expwy., Richardson, Texas 75080.
