Jabe (Butch) Pratt, Jr.

March 24, 1944 — January 5, 2023

Jabe (Butch) Pratt, Jr. was born in Abilene, Texas on March 24, 1944, to parents Jabe Matthew Pratt, Sr. and Yvonne (Mayfield) Pratt.

Butch met Gladys and they were married February 24, 1962. He drove a local truck for the Coca-Cola Company for 2 years. Then he went to work for his father-in-law who was a paint contractor.

In 1966 Butch moved his family to Irving, Texas and went to work for Central Freight Lines. After several years, he went back to painting as a foreman for a local paint contractor in Irving.  He then started his own paint contracting business.

Butch built a new home in 1996 and moved he and his wife to Lake Kiowa. There they enjoyed the lake life of fishing and golfing, while still painting.

At the age of 57 he decided to go back to driving a truck at which time his son took over the painting company. In 2002 they moved to Little Elm and in 2013 Butch retired. His hobbies were golfing, fishing and hunting. He was a deacon at Prestonwood Baptist Church, North Campus for many years.

Butch is survived by his wife, Gladys Pratt; daughter, Jamie Klimko and husband Greg; son Gerald Pratt; grandchildren Valerie and Chantel Klimko, Kristian Molina husband Jorge, Shea Pratt, Jerad Pratt and wife Tiffany; four great grandsons Seth, Gavin, JJ, and Sampson and one great granddaughter Kodi; nephews Jimmy and Johnny McDaniel and niece Mary Houston.  He was preceded in death by his parents Jabe and Yvonne Pratt, brother Bobby Pratt and nephew Gary Pratt.

There will be a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Prestonwood Baptist Church North Campus, 1001 W. Prosper Trail, Prosper, Texas.
