Ian Andrew Mccormick

January 17, 2000 — October 19, 2019

Ian McCormick was born January 17, 2000 in Dallas, Texas to parents John and Sylvia (Kuta) McCormick.
Ian was born to be in battle; he was a fighter from day one. He was born pre-mature and spent 3 weeks in NICU; he continued to fight battles his entire life.

Ian graduated from Plano West High School in 2018. He always wanted to serve his country and therefore joined the ARMY in July 2018. He received his basic training in Fort Benning, Georgia and then transferred to Fort Polk Louisiana. In dedication to his honorable service he received a National Defense Service Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, an Army Service Ribbon, and an Expert Marksmanship with a Carbon Bar Badge. He will also be receiving full military honors at the graveside for his service.

Ian had a beautiful heart. He loved life, his family, his friends, and animals. He would give the shirt off his back and the last dime in his pocket or the roof over his head and wouldn’t think twice about it. The most wonderful thing about Ian was his quirky sense of humor and the way he touched the hearts of others. He was wise beyond his years and was loved by all who knew him.

Ian was very religious. His choice to leave us was more painful for him than our pain over the loss of him. Just know he is in heaven with our Lord. We know his journey will continue by being with The Lord. We believe his journey in our world has prepared him to be a soldier of God. God bless you Ian; you will forever be in our hearts.

Ian is survived by his loving parents John and Sylvia McCormick, maternal grandparents Jerome and Delores Kuta and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.  He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Joseph and Mary Lou McCormick.

A funeral service to celebrate and honor Ian’s life will be held at Allen Family Funeral Options, Plano, Texas on Monday, November 4, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. The family will receive friends for a visitation at 10:00 A.M. before the service.
Ian will be laid to rest following the funeral service at Plano Mutual Cemetery, at the corner of 18th Street and Jupiter Road, Plano Texas 75074.

A reception will follow at John & Sylvia McCormick’s home at 2520 La Vida Pl., Plano, Texas 75023 and everyone is invited.

The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers and because of Ian's love for animals that contributions could be made to:
Operation Kindness, 3201 Earhart Dr., Carrollton, Texas 75006 or 972-418-7297 or
