Hubert Glen Nichols “Bud” was an “Okie from Muskogee”. The only one of four children born in a hospital. He was born on November 12, 1931 and went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 9, 2026, at the age of 94.

His family lived in Haskell, Oklahoma until Bud was in Jr. High when they moved to Tulsa. He attended Central High School where he lettered in track and graduated in 1949.

After spending two years in the Army, he studied Petroleum Engineering at Tulsa University. He met his wife Marilyn at Memorial Christian Church in Tulsa and they celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on March 4, 2026.

Bud went to work for Sinclair Oil and Gas in Tulsa in 1955, then they were bought by ARCO and ultimately purchased by BP. He was transferred to Plano, Texas in 1969 and retired from BP after 37 years of service in 1992.

Bud was a member of First Christian Church of Plano for 57 years.

Bud is survived by his wife Marilyn Nichols; children Brad Nichols, Todd Nichols and his wife Christie and Susan Hauser and her husband Rob; grandchildren and great grandchildren Drew Nichols, Dane and Olivia Nichols (Reece), Tara and Josh Grounds (Lane), Tessa Nichols, Heather and Taylor McGrew (Harper and Walker), Ryan and Larsen Dobey, with 2 more great grandsons on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents Porter and Catherine Nichols; brother Roland Nichols and sisters Mildred Moody and Eileen Butler.

A private family graveside service to honor Bud's life will be held on Monday, June 29, 2026, at the Dallas/Ft Worth National Cemetery.
