Howard Sparkman

Howard Sparkman, son of Ben and Cissie Sparkman, was born June 28, 1960, and died peacefully on May 12, 2026, at the age of 65. Known for his wit, he was even more cherished for his commitment to his Lord, family and friends. He fought hard and focused on gratitude in his last years.

He attended Highland Park High School and earned his Eagle Scout in Troop 82 where he served as Senior Patrol Leader. Shortly after his arrival at HPHS, Howard was asked to seek education outside HPISD and attended finishing school at New Mexico Military Institute where he served on the Cadet Honor Board. He graduated from the University of Texas with a BA in Economics and then began his 40-year career as a financial advisor in Dallas where he served his clients with integrity. He served as the President of Idlewild in 1987.

He was an outdoorsman and loved his friends at Little Sandy, Fin and Feather, and the Channels Ranch in Ennis, Montana.

Howard is survived by his mother, Sally Sparkman; his daughters, Luci, Adele and Belle; brother Ben (Linda); almost-brother Ty (Dana); nieces Liz, Catherine, Sally and Gigi; and nephews Daniel (Hilary) and JT.

The family thanks Howard’s caregivers and the staff at UTSW.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2026, at Highland Park Presbyterian Church Sanctuary.
