Howard William Boes

May 31, 1943 — December 14, 2025

Plano, Texas

Howard William Boes, adored husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, passed away on Sunday, the 14th of December, 2025, at the age of 82. Howard was born in St. Louis, Missouri on May 31, 1943 to Alphonse and Odelia Boes, the second of their three children.

Howard and his sister, Linda Hansink, and brother, Les Boes, were raised in St. Louis. Howard graduated from Bishop DuBourg High School in 1959 and St. Louis University in 1963, where he earned his degree in Economics. It was during these years at DuBourg and St. Louis University that Howard cultivated the most cherished and long-standing friendships of his life. In 1966 Howard joined the United States Marines Corps and was stationed in San Diego, California for Officer Basic Training in the Marine Reserves.

Howard returned to St. Louis and soon after, met the love of his life, Kathleen "Kitty" Edmonds and they were married on December 12, 1970. Howard enjoyed a distinguished career in incentive sales that brought the family to Milwaukee and Minneapolis before eventually settling in Plano, Texas in 1979. Howard's career took him and Kitty to many parts of the world and instilled in his family a lifelong enjoyment and appreciation of travel. After retiring, he and Kitty continued to travel extensively with family and friends. Howard and Kitty were blessed to be able to spend their 55th wedding anniversary together just days before his passing.

Howard's love of sports and fitness would give him great happiness, health and quality of life throughout his 82 years. He ran thousands of miles, played countless tennis matches and rounds of golf and more recently, took to swimming and racquetball to "keep up with his grandkids" and enjoy quality time with his cherished friends. He will be remembered as a genuine gentleman who was a wonderful conversationalist with a quick wit and generous laugh. Howard was a faithful and committed Catholic who was content to live simply surrounded by his greatest joy, his family and friends.

Howard is survived by his wife, Kathleen Edmonds "Kitty" Boes; daughter, Helen Katherine (Katie) Boes and her husband, Richard A. Calacci; son, Brian Edmonds Boes and his wife, Kara Ann Boes. Howard was blessed with five precious grandchildren, Katherine (Kasey), Christopher and Patrick Calacci and Violet and Grace Boes. He is also survived by his sister, Linda Hansink, and his brother, Leslie Boes and his wife, Meg Masterson Boes. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Kristen Elizabeth Boes.
