Plano

Homer Kyle Whitlock passed away on July 1, 2025, at the age of 88. He was born on November 10, 1936, to Ernest B. and Zelma F. Whitlock in New Albany, Mississippi.

In 1969, Homer married Linda Holstein, and they began a life together with Homer’s two sons, Dave and Steve. Homer’s career with Rainbo Bakery Company took the growing family to several different areas of the country. Mike was born while they were living in Aurora, Illinois, and Angie was born in Wichita, Kansas. After spending three years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, they settled in Plano, Texas in 1983, where they have lived ever since.

Homer worked for Rainbo for 46 years before moving on to work as a bakery consultant until his retirement in 2008. Since then, he enjoyed spending time with family, traveling with Linda, working out at the Rec Center, and bowling in a weekly league with the “King Pins” at Plano Super Bowl. He was an incredibly loving and devoted husband, father, grandpa (“Papo”) and great grandpa, whose memory will be cherished forever. He will be deeply missed.

Homer is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Whitlock; his sister, Barbara Muns of Plano; his children, David (Donna) Whitlock of Commerce City, Colorado, Steven Whitlock of Newark, Illinois, Michael (Patricia) Whitlock of Frisco, Texas, and Angela Whitlock of Conroe, Texas; his granddaughters, Jessica Whitlock of Chicago, Illinois, Rachel (Jeffrey) Kelleher of Munich, Germany, Rebekah Whitlock of Yorkville, Illinois, Jordan Whitlock of Ft. Worth, Texas, Cassidy Whitlock of Frisco, Texas, Reilly Whitlock of Frisco, Texas, and Kaitlyn (Jason) Renbarger of Thornton, Colorado; one great-grandson, Jude Kelleher of Munich, Germany, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Homer was preceded in death by parents, Ernest and Zelma Whitlock, brothers Ernest (Wayne) Whitlock and Robert Whitlock, nephew, Richard Whitlock.
