Henry Santa Maria

June 13, 1928 — November 3, 2018

Henry Santa Maria was born Enrique Antonio Jesus Santa Maria Laucirica in Busturia, Spain on the 13th of June, 1928.

Although his parents Emilia and Eduardo had already immigrated to the United States and started their family here, they chose for him to be born in the Old Country, where he was cradled by his ancestral Basque family for the first 6 months of his life. He was the second of 3 siblings and survived his older sister Carmen and his younger brother Victor.  Henry grew up in New York City where he went to school through High School and enlisted in the Army to serve his country in the Korean War, where he earned an honorable discharge and returned home to marry the love of his life, Milagros Otazua, better known to all as Millie.  And yes. He did say he was going to marry her the very first time he took her out on a date.

Henry was a self-made man.  His impeccable work ethic and unrelenting drive, led him to opportunities in which we was able to lead the Pfizer consumer product division in Mexico City to a great level of success.  He retired in 1990 and moved to Dallas, Texas where he was determined to invest his time in as much quality time as he found possible with his family.

Henry passed quietly at home, on Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 at the age of 90.   He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Milagros “Millie” Santa Maria, his children Christina, John and wife Ana Cecilia, Michael and wife Allison and Cathy, as well as eight Grandchildren Mario Alejandro Quiñones and wife Viviana, Nick, Adam, Caitie, Alex, Patrick, Isabella and Christopher.

The family will greet friends at a visitation on Thursday, November 8, 2018 from 4 to 6 pm, followed by a Vigil Service beginning at 6:00 pm at Allen Family Funeral Options.  A reception will be held immediately afterwards, 5 minutes away, at the home of Michael and Allison Santa Maria, at 4620 Sundance Dr., Plano, Texas 75024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at 2:00 pm at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, Texas 75023.

If desired, floral arrangements may be sent directly through the funeral home, or donations may be made in his name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society www.nationalmssociety.org to a cause he cared greatly about, as it has affected the life of his eldest daughter Christina.
