Henry Douglas “Doug” Newcomb passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, after a courageous and hard-fought battle. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that he is finally home and at peace.
Doug was the beloved husband of 55 years to Doris, the love of his life and his steadfast partner through every season. Together they built a family grounded in Christian faith, love, laughter, loyalty, and countless cherished memories. He was ever grateful for God’s presence in his life.
He was a proud and devoted father to Brad (Misty) Newcomb and Elizabeth (Jon) Hartke, and an adoring PaPa to Lexi Newcomb and her fiancé, Kielan, Blake Newcomb, Reese Hartke, Dylan Hartke, and Landon Hartke. Few things brought Doug more joy than his family, and he treasured every moment spent with them.
Doug was a loving brother to Mike (Paula) Newcomb and was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie, and his parents, Betty and Henry Benjamin Newcomb. He also leaves behind countless nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who loved him dearly.
Doug was also a proud entrepreneur who owned and operated his own company for more than 20 years. Through hard work, determination, and integrity, he built a successful business and earned the respect of colleagues, customers, and friends alike. He took great pride in his work and in providing for the family he loved so deeply.
To know Doug was to love him. He never met a stranger and had a gift for making people feel welcome. He was known for his quick wit, unforgettable sense of humor (and infectious laugh), and the playful, occasionally surly streak that only made him more lovable. Whether he was telling a story, sharing a joke, offering advice, or simply sitting quietly watching TV with those he loved, Doug had a way of leaving an impression on everyone he met.
He faced life's challenges with remarkable strength and determination, and he fought his final battle with the same courage that defined his life. Through it all, he remained surrounded by the people who loved him most.
Doug's legacy is not measured by accomplishments or possessions, but by the love he gave, the laughter he created, and the countless lives he touched. He was deeply loved, and he will be deeply missed.
Until we meet again, Dad, PaPa, Husband, Brother, Uncle and Friend - thank you for the love, the laughter, and the memories. You will forever be in our hearts.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Doug’s life at 2:30 p.m., Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Suncreek United Methodist Church, Allen, Texas.
