Henry (Hank) Leroy Wilson

March 26, 1928 — February 11, 2018

Henry (Hank) LeRoy Wilson was born in Vernon County, Missouri on March 26, 1928 to Earl and Zella Wilson. He lived on a farm, in Vernon County, until his high school years, when he moved to Menard, Texas, where he helped an aunt and uncle on their ranch. It was in Menard that LeRoy fell in love with Texas. After high school LeRoy joined the Air Force, where he served two years as a military policeman and an aircraft mechanic. After being discharged from the Air Force, LeRoy returned to Nevada, Missouri where he met the love of his life, Gloria “Junebug” Young, whom he married on March 20, 1954. LeRoy and Gloria enjoyed 64 wonderful years of marriage.

LeRoy and Gloria had a daughter, Jacque, in January 1955 and, a year later, a second daughter, Janet, came into their lives on LeRoy's own birthday that year. In 1956 LeRoy moved his little family to Texas, where he had vowed to return. In 1959 LeRoy and Gloria were blessed with a third child, son, Randy. LeRoy was proud to be "Gramps" to six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

LeRoy spent most of his life working as a design draftsman. Upon retirement from Rockwell International he enjoyed many years of traveling across America with his wife. Gramps loved playing with his grandchildren and helping them with the many projects they were working on. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed woodworking and crafting with wife, Gloria.

LeRoy was a loving and committed husband, father and grandfather. He would have done anything to help his children and grandchildren. Though he was a quiet man, he was a friend to many, loved and respected by all. When he was not taking care of his family, he was helping a neighbor, friend, or fellow church member.

LeRoy is survived by his wife, Gloria Wilson, daughters Jacque Burns and husband Bruce of Plano, Texas, Janet Davis and husband Charles of Wylie, Texas, son Randy Wilson and wife Karla of College Station, Texas. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren Joe, Dan and Dustin Grams, Wes and Blake Wilson, Katy Villareal, and Brady Wilson and 4 great-grandchildren, brother H.D. Wilson and his wife JoAnn, sister Linda Byrnes and his many loving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl & Zella Wilson, brother Orton Wilson, sisters Emily Bird and Lura Jean Zinn.
