Helen Marie Chenette (Anderson), age 93, passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Vitality Court in Allen, Texas in the company of her daughter Karen. She was born in Cairo, Illinois on January 5 th , 1925 to Femicha and Bob Anderson. She grew up in Stillwater, Minnesota where she met her husband and love of her life Eugene Chenette.
Helen was focused on being a good mother and grandmother. As a homemaker she helped Gene entertain at numerous functions related to his career in Gainesville, Florida, where Gene was Dept Chair of Electrical Engineering and Asst Dean of Engineering, in Northern Virginia, for 2 years while Gene was at the National Science Foundation providing research grants, and in Niceville, Florida while Gene was teaching at Eglin Air Force Base and engaged in research projects. They were always very active in their churches and other social organizations
Gene and Helen moved to Texas shortly after the birth of grandchildren, Luke and Alexandra Chenette, and fully integrated into their new community participating in many social organizations and starting the Prime Timers senior community at Christ Church Plano. She was always ‘Elegant’ (one of Gene’s favorite words). Recently struggling with dementia, she couldn’t always remember those closest to her and yet she continued to inspire others with her kindness, strength, and grace.
She was the beloved wife of the late Eugene R Chenette; caring mother to Karen Chenette and the late Maria Chenette; loving grandmother to granddaughter Alexandra Chenette and grandsons Luke Chenette, Roy Schmidt and Gavin Wright; sister to Robert A. Anderson (Elmhurst, Illinois), siblings-in-law to Louis and Emily Chenette, Howard Bogart; and a huge list of loved nephews, nieces, cousins, 2nd cousins and first cousins once removed, etc. Her Christmas card project was immense
On Wednesday, August 15, 2018 from 4:00pm – 6:00 pm, family and friends will gather for an Afternoon of Remembrance at Allen Family Funeral Options, 2112 W. Spring Creek Parkway Plano, Texas 75023.
A graveside service will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 16, 2018 at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway Dallas, Texas 75211.
